World War I
Wellington House hosted 19 young American officers from the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) who trained as pilots at the old racecourse and Turnberry. These brave servicemen lived life to the fullest, facing uncertainty each day, with many never returning home. A memorial at Holmston Cemetery in Ayr honors those who lost their lives.
